Bicycles in Japan
One of the first things that foreigners arriving in Japan are often surprised by the large number of bicycles that can be seen careening through the streets and sidewalks. Almost everyone, from grandmothers to well-dressed businessman on his way to the desktop with a "Jitensha" (Bike) as a means normal transport. Whether used to pick up preschoolers, pedaling to the nearest station, or go to work or college, cycling has become an integral part of Japanese society. Even the police, who often can see what night patrols on bicycles, preferred over navigation in the network of narrow streets which includes most of Japan's cities and towns. The two wheels are indeed everywhere, and at one point as the parking areas near large shopping centers in most shops and train stations are exclusively dedicated to bicycles home.
Despite its convenience and attractiveness as a cheap form of transport, are also a great physical discomfort and potential threat to passengers and pedestrians who can not learn the rules of the road These rules are:. there are no rules of the road.
